Let your love for animals be your legacy.

To give the gift of hope is a powerful way to change a life.

Dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, and other family pets are often the hidden victims of family violence. If you, like us, believe that no one should have to live with violence, please consider joining us in our promise to protect pets even when their loved ones can’t.

Legacy gifts have a very special place in our hearts as Pet Refuge was founded with a legacy gift from Founder, Julie Chapman’s late parents. Just as their legacy helped us start, your legacy can help us continue providing protection for pets even when their loved ones can’t.

Ways to give a legacy of love.

  • Pecuniary: This gives you the option to give a specified sum of money to Pet Refuge in your Will.
  • Specified bequest: This is where a particular item of value is given to Pet Refuge in your Will (for example stocks and shares, property or works of art).
  • Residuary: This involves gifting whatever is left over, or a percentage thereof (the residue), from your estate, after all expenses and debts have been settled and your beloved ones are provided for.

Your decision to include us in your Will is something we don't take lightly. It is important to us that your legacy is as you want it, and we encourage you to speak with your solicitor, family, and friends about your wishes.

Dog with tongue out

"Today I have thirteen rescue cats, two dogs, chickens, ten goats, and a turkey. One cat is blind, one is deaf, and one has a hole in his heart. I seem to be the person that adopts the cats' others might not want, and that’s okay with me.

Given my love for animals, starting Pet Refuge just made sense, but we can only do this because of people like you; By deciding to leave a gift in your Will you are giving both pets and people hope of a new future. For that, I am forever grateful." - Julie Chapman
