Pet Refuge - Safe Beds for Pets - Reunited Pets

Reuniting *Peach with her family

For many survivors of family violence, pets are more than just companions—they are family, providing love and stability in times of crisis. That’s why reuniting pets with their families is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Peach’s family had endured so much, and being apart from her was heartbreaking. But we kept them connected with weekly updates, sharing photos and stories of Peach’s time in our care. The day they were reunited was filled with joy and relief.

“It’s been life-changing for us. It would have been a barrier to me leaving, and it would have been a huge barrier for the boys if they didn't have her in terms of feeling a sense of home. So, it's been massive for all of us.

The kids love having her back. They adore her. She comes in, does bedtime, and listens to the stories. It’s like she was never aware for even a day. It's just amazing.

She’s just such a part of the family. And I think for us, we have been here a week or two before she arrived, and she's made it feel like home.

Pet Refuge has been incredible, it would have felt like we were missing a huge part of our lives if she hadn't come, so thank you.”

– Peach’s Mum

Every month, around 14 pets are reunited with their families, giving survivors the freedom to start fresh without sacrificing the pets they love. Less than 10% of the pets we care for need to be rehomed—almost all find their way back to the people who love them most.

*Data has been collected using five average months at random through 2022-2024.

"They’re not just cats. They’re our family.

That’s what made Pet Refuge so special – they understood that. They were a dedicated support for the pets. Once we got them into Pet Refuge, I felt like I could breathe again knowing they were safe, warm, and cared for. They even had their birthdays while they were there.

I’ll never forget the support Pet Refuge gave us. In the middle of so much chaos, they kept our cats safe so that our family could stay together" - *Maddy
